Bring Xero client books into the same controlled close workflow.
Numbers Game is available alongside QuickBooks Online for firms that work in Xero. Review live numbers, prepare work in Claude or ChatGPT, and keep a responsible person at the approval point before a ledger write.
What does Numbers Game do for Xero firms?
It gives your firm a controlled MCP connection to the Xero organisations you manage. Company access is scoped by firm and person, Xero remains the system of record, and the workflow keeps review close to the accounting decision.
One way to work across different client ledgers.
Connect the organisations you manage
An Owner or Admin connects the Xero organisations their firm is authorised to work in. Your firm decides which people and approved AI clients can reach each one.
Review from live Xero data
Use reporting, searches, document detail, settings, budget-versus-actual work, and bank-transaction context without rebuilding the question in a spreadsheet first.
Prepare supported day-to-day work
Numbers Game can support work with customers, suppliers, invoices, bills, items, accounts, bill payments, purchase orders, quotes, credit notes, manual journals, bank transfers, and attachments where the Xero workflow supports it.
Keep the approval point with the firm
Human review remains the approval point. Numbers Game can prepare a proposed change and its context. The responsible accountant decides whether it belongs in the client ledger.
Start with the numbers your team needs to trust.
- Balance sheet, profit and loss, trial balance, aged receivables, and aged payables.
- Profit and loss by month, quarter, or year, plus comparisons your team can explain.
- Xero budgets and budget-versus-actual analysis. Xero budgets are read-only through the API, so building or changing a budget stays in Xero.
- Ledger settings, including lock date, tax settings, tracking, reporting basis, and home currency before a workflow depends on them.
- Bank-transaction review with a warning when the available window does not tie to Xero's bank summary, rather than a silent guess.
For the firm workflow around inherited books, see audit before you model. For the wider controlled connection, see the QuickBooks Online and Xero MCP guide.
Useful coverage is not the same as pretending the ledgers match.
QuickBooks Online and Xero do not expose the same capabilities. Numbers Game names the difference instead of flattening it into a generic feature list.
General ledger and cash-flow reports
General ledger reports are not available through the Xero connection. Cash-flow statements and a full transaction-list report are also not available in the same way.
Budgets
Xero budgets are read-only. Your team can review a budget and run budget-versus-actual analysis, while budget creation and editing remain in Xero.
Documents and bank activity
Only customer invoices can be emailed through Xero. Deposits are not a Xero workflow here. Xero bank activity is handled with ledger-specific reconciliation checks rather than assuming QuickBooks behavior.
Tracking and contacts
One Xero tracking category can be used for class-style reporting where it is clearly configured. Departments are not supported. Xero uses one contact record rather than separate customer and supplier records.
Xero data stays under firm control.
Before a Xero organisation is connected, an Owner or Admin gives explicit consent to the separate Xero data-sharing terms for the named third-party AI provider. That consent is recorded and can be withdrawn. Withdrawing it stops the connector from serving Xero data to that provider.
The connection does not make every client file visible to every person. Firm role, company access, and the requested action are checked in the workflow. Xero remains the system of record.
Bring a real Xero close workflow. See the boundaries clearly.
